Welcome To Eudemons Online

Eudemons Online is a free to play 2.5D fantasy MMORPG first released publicly in 2007. The game is centered around the player character's narrative journey to rise against the antagonists in this fantasy world by accumulating Eudemons which serves as companions and pets. At release, there were only three classes available - the Mage, Warrior and Paladin. Eudemons Online has come a long way since and now boasts seven classes in total, with the latest being the Archer.

How Does It Play?

In Eudemons Online, the game gives you control of your character from a top-down perspective. You cannot rotate the screen which can be irksome, but otherwise it's easy to get a good enough view of the action and the world. Movement and combat mechanics are done primarily through mouse clicking. Your class skills will be placed in the hotbar when they become available the more you level. These can be executed using keyboard keys from F1-F12, but they are remap-able. The game is primarily a classic theme park MMO, which means very early on you're introduced to the questing and story system. You'll follow this all the way to the level cap. The story itself can be generic, but it's bearable due to the fun combat segments and pet segments that will pop up in-between. Leveling is very quick oddly enough, and you can most definitely get to level 30 or so in just a few hours. This is due to the game allowing you to use its auto-pathing feature in addition to selling XP boosts and other character benefits from the cash store, which are all optional.

More conventional MMORPG content exists, with plenty of PvE group play dungeons and PvP Arenas to get involved with. Dungeons are perhaps the most engaging of the lot. The combined might of the party plus all summoned Eudemeons makes for some awe-inspiring gameplay, which is only held back by the dated game engine and graphics. PvP is different beast, and while competitive it's fairly common to get destroyed repeatedly by players who spend more money than you. Eudemons Online is very welcoming to solo players, and offers decent social options for guilds or bigger groups. The standout feature is the definitely the Mentor-Apprentice system, where both players earn XP and other rewards for playing together.

What Is Its Best Feature?

The most rewarding feature of this MMORPG is undoubtedly the Eudemons system. Players will acquire pets and companions via various gameplay means, and even from the cash store. These Eudemons will grow and evolve alongside you, earning XP and at high enough levels, can obtain excellent skills, buffs and other benefits that become game-changers for your character. The level of diversity these pets offer gives the game a fun strategic element. You'll spend quite some time planning a path for your Eudemons to level in order to get the right builds and gear. This pet system enhances the core class gameplay strongly, as it lets you experiment with a variety of play styles to suit you. Players who plan their group composition to factor in both the ideal class and Eudemon combos will be more effective than those who don't. It's due to this that various meta theory-crafting for best builds exists within the game, and it's all better because of it.

What's great about the pet system is it doesn't detract the core experience of leveling your own class up. Progression in Eudemons Online involves your class learning new abilities primarily. It's always fun to see new combat effects and skills being put to use on map enemies or dungeon bosses. The other important aspect that keeps players coming back is the gear progression treadmill. Players will upgrade their hard-earned gear using the Forging system, that's similar to games like TERA and Black Desert Online. While RNG in nature, it's not as punishing and allows you to socket in or upgrade different pieces of gear to further enhance your overall DPS or Healing output.

Graphics and Presentation

If we're being really honest here, the expectation for Eudemons Online to look good wasn't very high. It might have looked great once, but we're no longer in 2007. Having said that, the game is still enjoyable for its bright vivid colors and varied environments when players travel from map to map. You probably won't get burnt out by seeing the same environmental assets twice, which is a good thing. The game doesn't have much voice-overs, and the music is only passable so these aspects won't blow you away. One area that definitely could use more improvement is the UI. Menus and tooltips come across as rigid and the lack of customization makes the overall experience sluggish especially on prolonged gaming sessions.

Should You Play It?

Players who enjoy a sprinkle of strategy and pet-meta evolution gameplay with their MMORPG will find some serious fun in Eudemons Online. As an MMORPG, it ticks all the boxes a theme park game should have. While it doesn't offer a standout experience with the generic questing and story, it's the combat system and the Eudemons pet system in dungeons and group play that will be the most memorable. Its free to play model is quite generous and you can progress pretty high without spending a single cent. However, most of these optional cash shop boosts are very popular among the player base so you might feel pressured to keep up especially at higher levels. Overall, Eudemons Online offers just enough to keep MMORPG enthusiasts satisfied.
