Fun, action-packed PvPvE shooter - Team up with your friends, solve puzzles, fight monsters and outsmart enemy players to grab mysterious treasures... but more importantly, then get the hell outta there!
Hawked is a free-to-play online shooter released (in Open Beta) in November 2023.
It catapults players into the heart of X-Isle's untamed chaos, blending humor, mayhem, and the thrill of treasure hunting.
The game's strength lies in its dynamic gameplay—loot, upgrade gear, and engage in strategic battles against both AI-controlled Disciples and other player-controlled Renegades. The map, although filled with lizards, provides ample room for exploration, gearing up, and solving brain-teasing puzzles seamlessly integrated into the environment.
While the aesthetics might borrow heavily from popular trends, the game's quirks and charms overshadow any lack of distinct identity. Movement mechanics and gunplay may need refinement, but the overall experience hints at the potential for a gaming gem.
In the lively realm of online PvPvE shooters, HAWKED bursts onto the scene with an unapologetically chaotic vibe. Picture this: lizard monsters, ancient relics, and ten teams of three all scrambling for glory on the mysterious X-Isle. As I dove into this extraction shooter, it quickly became evident that HAWKED isn't your typical serious fare – it's a wild treasure hunt with a humorous twist.
X-Isle is our playground, overrun by lizard monsters and brimming with ancient relics. GRAIL, the adventurers guild, drafts us Renegades for a treasure hunt of epic proportions. The game smartly takes cues from popular battle royales, infusing a more laid-back approach to the treasure-hunting mayhem. Loot, upgrade, and outfox your opponents – that's the game's heartbeat.
The core gameplay revolves around looting, upgrading gear, and outsmarting opponents in a relentless pursuit of relics. Despite the chaos, the map never feels overcrowded, providing ample space for exploration and gearing up. What sets HAWKED apart is the seamless integration of brain-teasing puzzles into the environment – from memory challenges to symbol alignment, these diversions add a welcome twist to the typical shooter formula.
PvP dynamics are where the game truly shines. Tactical play, movement abilities, and quick thinking are your best allies in the frenzied battles. The arsenal is delightfully diverse, ranging from melee weapons to grenade launchers. However, the game's aesthetics seem a bit borrowed, lacking a distinct identity. Movement mechanics, though abundant, lack clarity in approach, and the guns, while smooth, lack the impactful feedback that makes gunplay satisfying.
Despite these quirks, HAWKED beckons with the promise of a unique blend of chaos and puzzle-solving. Sure, the aesthetics could use a dash of originality, and the movement mechanics and gunplay may need some refining. Yet, as I explored the island and engaged in battles, there was an undeniable charm that kept me hooked. Even in its imperfections, the game hinted at the potential for a truly engaging experience.
HAWKED is a potential go-to for those seeking casual gaming escapades. The blend of mayhem and puzzle-solving offers a refreshing break, and the long-term progression system adds a hook for sustained engagement.
While the quirks may need some smoothing out, there's an undeniable appeal to this quirky treasure hunt that makes HAWKED worth keeping an eye on.
